Back in the old BBS days I created a bunch of ANSI art screens using TheDraw. Someone has to have written an ANSI to HTML converter (which uses Unicode for all the block and line-drawing characters), but until I find one, these are just a few screenshotted images from my collection, circa 1993.
I actually designed a whole BBS myself using the Renegade system, for which I had one friend call into and play door games like Land Of Devastation and The Pit. Those were the days...
I have lots more, but until I get around to figuring out how to display ".ansi" files (these ones I'd saved as ".com", which is a standalone executable format supported by TheDraw) here are a few.
I guess I liked the idea of anti-aliasing...
Above: I found a GIF to ANSI converter and was messing around with some raytraced scenes from POV-Ray, converting them to ANSI.
Above: Another raytraced scene... see the shiny mirrored dome, reflecting palm trees in a desert? No? Squint harder!
